ROOFING

Calls ring the owner by day, Voice AI answers by night.

A roofing business with a website number and two Google Business Profile listings, wanting calls to reach the owner during office hours and an AI agent to take them after hours.

The problem

What was going wrong

Office hours were 8am to 6pm, seven days a week. Outside those hours, calls to the website number and both Google listings had nowhere useful to go.

Two constraints shaped everything. Google's own Business Profile numbers cannot be routed through an AI agent. And the client's marketing partner had a firm rule that clients must own their own phone numbers.

What I built

The system, piece by piece

Four routing options, written up plainly

Manual forwarding codes on the owner's phone, conditional forwarding through the carrier, a tracking number with time-based routing, and full number porting into GHL. Each came with its trade-offs so the client could choose with eyes open. The tracking number was recommended.

Time-based routing with a Voice AI after hours

From 8am to 6pm, calls forward straight to the owner's mobile. Outside those hours they go directly to a GHL Voice AI agent, which takes the call and emails the owner a summary.

One rule across three numbers

The website number and both Google Business Profile listings follow the same routing, so it does not matter which one a customer finds.

Built around the client's own call tracking

The numbers can stay in the client's existing call tracking platform and forward into GHL, which handles the routing and the Voice AI as the back end.

Reasoning

Why it was built this way

Why a tracking number over carrier forwarding

Conditional forwarding still rings the owner's phone after hours, and callers sit through several rings before the AI picks up. With a tracking number the phone stays silent at night and callers are answered immediately.

Why number ownership shaped the design

If the number lives inside the automation platform, leaving the platform means losing the number. Keeping it in the client's own call tracking account and using GHL only as the engine means the client can always walk away with it.

What changed

The result

The design covers the website and both Google listings with one routing rule, keeps the owner's phone silent after hours, answers callers immediately, and leaves every number in the client's own account.

Described in terms of what the system does. No performance figures are published here, because none have been independently verified.
